Chairman's Foreword Hi, my names Dave Morris and I'm the new Chairman of the Junior section of the Bradford and Bingley Rugby Football Club for Season 2006/07. This website is new this year and I hope that you find it a useful tool, a source of information for all involved. The best way to find what your looking for is to click on the contents banner at the top of each page or use your back button. You'll soon get the hang of it I hope ! If your a player, potential player, parent /carer, official or volunteer all the information you require can be found here. If it isn't here it should be, you can drop me a mail or catch me on a Sunday and I'll sort it out. This is my first attempt so constructive criticism only please. The site will be continually under construction so not all the info is available on day one.
Now read on and find out what we are all about. Team Pages this way. or up to date News.
The Junior section of Bradford & Bingley RFC is here to provide a 'Safe, Effective, Child Friendly environment that children and young people can learn and actively participate in "OUR SPORT" the game of RUGBY.
What is RUGBY ? Rugby is a game between two teams, observing fair play, according to the Laws and in a sporting spirit, should, by carrying, passing, kicking and grounding the ball score as many points as possible with the team scoring the greater number of points being the winner of the match. Rugby is played worldwide in over 120 countries by men, women, boys and girls of all ages. The wide variation of skills and physical requirements needed for the game mean that there is an opportunity for individuals of every shape, size and ability to participate. Because there are different variations of the game - 15-a-side, 10-a-side, 7-a-side, Tag rugby (non-contact), Touch rugby (non-contact) - there is a game to suit everyone.
Who can do it ? Anyone keen on, committed to, or just interested in Rugby are welcome at the Junior Bees. Junior Bees have adopted a Club for All approach. Sports Equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. We have followed the Rugby Football Union's (RFU) lead and produced a Equity Policy No matter what the age or ability 6+ to 17 we will be able to cater for you in our Mini/Midi or Junior sections . If your 18 to 70+ and you want to play or just get involved on a social level we have teams for all ages and abilities why not contact our Senior Club.
With who ? Our Mini teams Under 7/8s age groups welcome both boys and girls. They start by learning to play Tag Rugby known as Stage 1 which is a non contact form of the game. Our Min/Midi teams Under 9/10s again welcome both boys and girls, whatever their background and experience.they are introduced to contact Rugby or Stage 2 as they progress through these age groups. Don't be put off if you or your child hasn't started at the Mini level because at each level the players are taught the basics from the earlier years. No player is "Thrown in at the deep end" the coaches need to be confident that, all that participate do so safely. Our Midi teams Under 11/12s again welcome both boys and girls, at this stage the game is further developed Stage 3 by the introduction of more aspects of the game, larger pitch, more contact etc. The Under 12's is the last year that the boys and girls can play in the same team. At present we do not run any girls RUGBY above this age group, but this is something we intend to rectify in the near future. Watch This Space GirlsThe Junior teams (Under 13's upwards) play as boys teams and their development continues. We now adopt the full 15 aside game with a few variations in the laws up to Under 19. At this point we also introduce the RFU's Structured Season, so we can control the amount of Rugby they play. In addition, people who would like to help in any other capacity are welcome, and there are many tasks which, as volunteers, can assist in the success of our (your) club.
Where do we do it ? We train and play our home fixtures at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, Aire View, Wagon Lane, Bingley, BD16 1LT. The ground is hidden behind Beckfoot school, which is on the old main road through the middle of Bingley. We sometimes travel quite some distance to away games and normally rely on parent volunteers for transportation. If you or your parent / carer does not have transport we can arrange something within the team.
When do we do it ? We play or train most Sundays in the Rugby season which runs from September through to April every year. Check out the fixture lists on each of the teams pages.
What do I need ? You will require proper Rugby boots (or football boots with Rugby studs) your coach will advise you on this. You will need training kit comprising of shirt, shorts and socks there is also a requirement for all at the club who play to use a gum shield. Most things that you will require will be available from the Bees Kit Shop along with many other rugby related goodies.
What will it cost ? You make yourself a Junior playing member for a one off payment of £40 for the year. We would encourage your parents to make themselves Social Members of the Club at a very reasonable cost of just £20 this entitles them to full use of the Club.
Can I just try it ? Anyone can come along and have a go, you can stay for a few weeks with no commitment. You will need to fill in a form though as per our Child protection Policy.
Who should I contact ? Contact the Team Manager from the team you wish to join or any of the committee.
